About This Blog

Come peer through the lens of Sacred Writings and Scripture to know ourselves and be made whole. There is always medicine to apply in our lives: emotional, relational, social and spiritual. My prayer is that the words of the early church and scripture will inform our identity and bring us healing that equips us to know and serve God with all our hearts.

YOUR LIFE IS SPEAKING

Meandering through the Altepinakothek  in Munich I listened to the introductory audio tape, "Let the paintings speak to you."  I wonder if we take the time, in the rush of our busy days, to let our lives speak to us?

Open your eyes

of your life.

the darkest night.

We cannot always walk in shadows, we must ask God to show us the light and seek something- Someone- beyond ourselves to give us strength, grace and hope.

Medicine from Sacred Scripture:

"Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of Your face shine upon us, O Lord. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:6-8

SERVANTS TO MINISTER TO YOU

One of the days in Munich as I stepped off the train I immediately sensed tension- there was a strong police presence throughout the city. Demonstrations were staged and thousands of "polizei" were stationed in groups at every street corner. At first fear gripped me- what was happening, where was the danger? Slowly, God gave me the picture of angels guarding me always- just as the police guarded all the citizens against attack.

In light of the tragedy in Oklahoma and the stories of those rescued, I wonder if we could open ourselves up to the presence of God's protection? We rejoice with those who rejoice and we mourn with those whose loved ones have been carried to heaven, but know that God's angels were with them.

QUESTIONING

Ever wonder why or why so long... why God waits or doesn't give us what we think we want in the moment we ask, or the season we seek? The girls pined for their train ride to be over and sometimes I wonder if I am not the same. No little pink jacket, but a heart  that still cries, "Why so long?"

Can you relate to the girls traveling and the Father comforting?

Pink puffy jackets
zipped up to
tiny pom- pommed scarves.
They journey on
these two
and there is peace.
"Un so lange?"
hands gesture in
sad frustration
as they travel, asking,
"Why so long?"
They wring their chubby fingers together.
Peering anxiously ahead
they hold on tight.
Sun splashes their faces
and  a Father gently
answers their
heart's cry.

A TRAVELING SONG

The theme of my childhood was grief and deep sadness, but there is a time and season for everything; if we have ears to hear we can learn new melodies.

My Father

and opens your heart

mercy
kindness

peace
safety

"The Lord lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a  rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God." Psalm 40:2, 3

Have you ever considered that you have a Father who wants to help you?

Rough but gentle hands
guide hers
as she holds her treasure
between them.
Sun streams across faces
and glasses rim
tiny features.
Questions pour forth
in a foreign tongue
but all is comfort.
Carefully he adjusts
her glasses
that the journey might
be made easier.
"There, child, can you see now?"
